Civics

From Alan in Fort Worth, an American civics test -

Apparently the average US office holder scores 44% – Nick, a brit, scored 73% and I, an aussie who has never sat in on a civics class in my life, for any country, scored 91%.

Wonder how Barackkk would score.

Another Aussie here. I got 90.91% and only had to guess a couple of questions.

The US elected officials are a bit of a worry if they get less than 50%.

I didn’t so much guess as eliminate the alternatives which were obviously wrong.

    90.91% here.

I don’t doubt that our elected officials really are that dull.

It’s like this: The history of computing has been edited. Alan Turing gave up on artificial intelligence as being unworkable, and chose instead to focus his attentions towards artificial stupidity. Thanks to him, we have daytime television and county commissioners. And from the sound of it, our UK friends suffer from the same afflictions judging by reports from our mutual friend Mr. Marks.

    93.94%. In your face, suckers!

Sorry. I get a bit competitive with these things. But yes, if US officials are scoring less than 50pc in what is essentially a general knowledge quiz about the institution they’re supposed to be running, something is far wrong.

    A dissapointing 74 for me.
But then I answered things like Puritans believe in freedom of religion rather than the sinfulness of man, which is pretty much a given for all religions isnt it?
Now I thought that’s why the Mayflower pitched up in America in the first place. For a bit of freedom of religion.Ah well….

  6. NickM says:

RAB, I got that one wrong too.

This Brit got 90% due to some weird miss clicking or something (No Really! Honestly! You cunts!). They are also just wrong on what to do in a recession claiming stupidly one should cut taxes and spend (Ricardian equivalence eludes them, as it does Gordon Brown).

  8. Pete D. says:

    Christ,
I’m a furriner as well and I scored 90.91%. The American edjumacashun system must really suck!

  9. El Draque says:

87%. Had to guess about Abraham Lincoln, and the Antifederalists.
Little known fact about the Mayflower: on its second voyage, it carried African slaves. Not much “Thanksgiving” there, I suppose.

This is rapidly turning into a Constitutional Big Dick Contest and I’m left with the weiner…

  12. Discussing these test results with co-workers has been one of the most depressing experiences of my middle age.
