Jenkin (single S) is a terrible cunt. He’s been given an indeterminate sentence for public protection, with a six-year minimum. This means that nobody will even think of letting him out of his cage for six years.
After that, he will be psychiatrically assessed to see if he’s safe to be let out of his cage. Now, the parole system is one which can be gamed, largely by intelligent/charming psychopaths who pretend to be reformed when they aren’t.
this is Shane Jenkin. If you want to place a bet on him playing the “intelligent/charming psychopath” role and getting out after six, then I’m happy to stack up a grand that he won’t.
He also won’t have much of a time in jail. He’s not a literal nonce, so he won’t get to go in the safety wing - but blinding a pretty girl is not the sort of thing that will endear him to the rest of the prison population.
I think similar thoughts when I read about the Pakistani men who hurl acid into the faces of women.
My sympathy for her is, unfortunately, tempered somewhat:

I know many people who are against the death penalty - personally, I think that people like Shane Jenkins are living examples of why it’s sometimes not only necessary, but just.

zack: My other comment’s stuck in moderation, but in short: yes. Under an IPP he cannot, under any circumstances, be released for six years. After that, the onus is on him to demonstrate that he is not a danger to society. The nature of this offence, his existing record, and the fact that he bluffed his way out on parole before and then did this, will create a burden of proof that he will find seriously hard to reverse.
Harsh? Maybe. I guess my reputation as a soft, fluffy kitten will have to take the battering..
But I’m afraid it’s women like her that get my goat - the amount of resources she soaks up in NHS treatment, police time, CPS time, court time…only to then willingly throw it all away. In her case, not by simply refusing to leave him (as so many do) but by actively supporting him in his case!

Because for me, I was entirely unaware that Italian men throw acid in the faces of women. I was, however, well aware that men throwing acid in the faces of women in Pakistan is a common occurrence.

I couldn’t care less about their race either, which is why I didn’t mention it. Of course, there are some who are ignorant enough to think “Pakistani” is a race who might subsequently fail to understand what I said, but such are the dangers of giving the citizenry universal access to the web.
I mentioned Pakistani men specifically because when I read the cases - and other than occurrences in Afghanistan these are the only ones I’ve had the occasion to read about - I am not only appalled by the act itself but the cultural rationale behind it - which is usually admitted freely by the perpetrator - and the cultural aversion to prosecuting such people and rooting it out of society. In several of the cases I have read about - admittedly not in depth and these might not be representative, but I have no reason to believe they are not - the man concerned shrugs off his actions with “I had to defend my honour”, the police couldn’t give a rat’s arse beyond taking a statement or two, and society doesn’t seem to condemn this sort of behaviour. Certainly, the men concerned do not become pariahs. This is what I find so appalling, and unless the Italian, Belgian, and French cases saw the police and society shrug it off as lightly as the Pakistani patriarchs do, then I’m unlikely to feel quite the same revulsion.
Why I find similar revulsion towards Jenkins is that he is from the same sub-section of society which NickM wrote about on here (I think regarding Raoul Moat) which is utterly amoral, and hence would likely shrug off the deliberate blinding of a woman in a heartbeat. When I lived in Manchester I heard a story about a gang of teenagers who were wrecking a bus. One of the passengers unwisely intervened and ended up with his eyes gouged out (to prevent him from identifying them to the police). The kind of people who do this are no less repugnant and amoral than the Pakistani men who throw acid into the faces of women; and I suspect the immediate society which both sets inhabit are no less repugnant or amoral. Did Jenkins of the Manchester eye-gougers live Jeffrey Dahmer style lives of solitude? No, they surround themselves by complete c*nts of equally feeble minds and look to these peers for justification of their actions, which drives the next set. Jenkins has a history of violence, just like most of the scum who turn up in the courts up and down the country having committed random acts of sickening violence against (usually) defenceless people. Are these people social pariahs in their own society? I doubt it. Is Jenkins going to get shunned by any of his peers? I doubt it. He’ll shrug it off with a “she deserved it” and his knuckleheaded mates will nod in agreement. They always fucking do.

Most German Jews survived, because they got the fuck out of there when they could, when Germany was still semi-free but rather Nazi. Same for French, Italian, Austrian Jews, who mostly fled before Hitler took direct control of the countries in question and started the deportations.

I heard it from my ex-GF when we lived in Manchester in about 2001. It might possibly be an urban myth (she did work in a pub), but there was no shortage of random acts of sickening violence meted out by gangs of teenagers in Manchester. I’d certainly not stand up to them, then or now, unless somebody was really in need of some help. They are not in the least bit afraid of the law, and they have no societal restraints placed upon them, not by their peers, not by the family, and not by anyone else. I’ve been about a bit since I lived in Manchester - 40 countries, thereabouts, and about 170 border crossings since 2003 - and nowhere I have found more dangerous than Manchester. Sure, if you go into the wrong parts of Lagos or Port Harcourt you’ll get robbed for sure, but firstly you know not to go to those areas and secondly at least they’re robbing you for money. In Manchester, the scumbags were everywhere and could not be avoided, and they were only interested in kicking the shit out of people for fun. I’d rather walk through a park in Moscow late at night than a park in Manchester.
I think you’ll find that the mention of five years is a legal technicality. He was sentenced to life, but it is the judge who imposes the tarriff. Because it was not murder, the judge could not impose an obviously huge tarriff, but instead suggested a minimum term and left the sentence open-ended by adding “you ought not be released until you are no longer a danger to society”. That is a way of keeping him inside for many more years.
Now - fast forward. In five years Fucko is up before the parole board who read the judge’s notes. Fucko tells them “Aaa’aahhhm really zorry, but ‘aaa’ve done a degree in ‘ow to take a shit with the Open Univoorrrzity”. Think he’s getting out? Think again.
I know both Tina Nash and Shane Jenkin - I went to school with Shane and he lived in my Village until he moved to Hayle with Tina. Shane has always been a thug and a bully. He went to prison a few years back for repeatedly beating a lads eye sockets damaging one eye and breaking his eye sockets. He killed 2 of his own dogs, by kicking them to death. He was a monster. I would say that is a text book psychopath in the making but Iam no expert. I also know Tina and have had many of good nights out and partys at the old house in Newlyn and I still cannot even get my head around what he has done to her. she will never see her kids faces again or DJ like she did again.
