Superstorm Sandy

US East Coast readers (like Bod) I really hope you, your family and pets and property is OK. I really do.

Superstorm Sandy sounds like a ’80s porn star. I guess not all blow-jobs are that good.

Sorry, but I’m English to the hilt and bad humour is how we react. To everything really.

If I was religious I’d pray. God knows what else I could do.

They have more Sandys than we do (Scotland may be an exception). As many people on all sides of all oceans have pointed out, it’s a sad use of a name that was otherwise attached solely to innocence and niceness (Gall, Dee, Shaw)

Can Hurricanes be gay even, John ?

Yes, to everyone in the East. I’ve been watching some of the reports on weather.com…I do hope none of you have been burned out like those folks in Queens.

    I am so very sorry.

Well, I have no idea what happened to the first half of my comment! I just wanted to say that I do hope all our friends and correspondents in the eastern third of the U.S. are safe, and your families and loved ones too of course.

Well, hard to comment on the results for the whole East Coast, but we got off pretty light. Substations blown up, utility poles and large trees snapped off 12ft above the ground, cables lying everywhere (not powered up, fortunately), supply chains limping along, no reported fatalities in this part of CT, though some people had damn close calls. I’ll try and post some pics of entirely local relevance sometime tomorrow.

The people I pity are the poor bastards in NJ (they aren’t all like Snooki) – Sandy walked straight through them. I’m sure that compared to them, the highly televized problems in Brooklyn and Downtown Manhattan will look like a love-tap.

I expect PA got it worse than we did too, so I’ll pass on and amplify everyone’s kind thoughts for those guys.
