No m’Lord

Maybe you thought totalitarians were a bunch of gruesome, friendless, socially mal-adjusted creeps?

Well it seems you were right, because they really, really don’t get satire.

http://uk.news.yahoo.com/sexy-kim-jong-un-spoof-fools-chinese-paper-063837398.html

Seems like our friends at ‘The Onion’ have fooled another bunch of murdering sociopaths, this time your friendly neighbourhood Tiananmen square apologists, the Chinese Communist party.

And remember ‘The Onion’ doesn’t set out to spoof people, it is meant to be satire.

And this is why a free press is so vital.  Yes, they might behave badly, yes they might be vile, but the freedom to be vile, the freedom to be racist, the freedom to mock divers etc is the freedom to hold the government to account.  It’s the freedom to be …. free.

So Brian, sorry m’lord Justice Leveson, but Guido Fawkes with his intrigues, The Telegraph with MP’s expenses or ‘The Sun’ with tits, protect the last vestiges of our freedom.  Parliament has long since given up its role as defender of our rights, the courts do as they are told, Guido is the last line in the sand between us and Kim-Jong-Cameron/Milliband.

That and the various folks at Cats and Dick Puddlecote and Anna Raccoon and Ambush Predator and Leg-Iron and the Snow Wolf and two dozen others I read that heckle the steam roller.

M’Lord, Vi Veri Veniversum Vivus Vici and I cannot in good conscience be silenced.

  1. Mr Ed says:

The drip of tyrannical proposals is turning into another flood. Minimum alcohol prices for England and Wales proposed, the media reports focus n the utility of the measures (boom boom), not the tyrannical nature of them.

Cameron should simply decry any measures for statutory regulation as the chilling wind of a tyrannical mindset, and then put a motion to the Houses to impeach Leveson LJ, were he to propose such. (Whilst Chavez and Raúl Castro hail Mises, apologise and disband their parties).

Damn right, SAoT! And damn those who say otherwise.

Lovely stuff! I wonder if Mad Magazine is still going? I bet the People’s Daily believe Alfred E Neuman is President of the USA. Huh? It is seriously worrying though that China is the second biggest superpower on the planet.

As to the minimum alcohol pricing Mr Ed, I’m waiting for the EU to pipe up tell iDave that he can’t do that, single market and all that jazz… against the rules etc. But as they seem to be making it up as they go along themselves now, maybe not.

    But–but RAB…isn’t he? I mean, look at the ears….

    They have.

iDave, like Salmond, seems to think he can keep us in the EU but ignore those bits of it that he doesn’t like.

It’ll be a long game, but my money’s on the EU commission.

Now, gentlemen, how about some REAL independence?

But isn’t that what all EU countries have done all along. Thinking of you France…
