Here we go again

Do I want to offend anyone? No I don’t. Is it necessary that I do? Yes, yes it is.

Why am I sticking this up you may ask? After all, no recent violence. No recent overt demands that we submit.

So why am I being deliberately offensive? Because it is my bloody right to do so, that’s why.

Well, that and this too:-

A week or so ago we saw a get together by various Islamic bigwigs in Cairo, all colluding on how to scrag the rest of us.

Getting the go-ahead from the Cairo Islamic Summit, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has been actively trying to get the denigration of religions recognized as a criminal offense, according to a top official.

Next session of the Istanbul Process on Islamophobia will be held in the first half of this year, and the session will squarely focus on the issue of criminalizing denigration of religions,” said Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, director of cultural affairs at the OIC general secretariat and spokesman for the OIC secretary general.

Just another example of the millennia long campaign to impose their will.

Freedom of speech, freedom of association, freedom of worship – all of these principles were developed in reaction to the horrors caused by nonsenses like blasphemy laws. Hands up all who think our political masters will be over zealous in their determination to support our rights?

No,me neither.

Sigh, how easily we forget.

I just wonder how this will all end and for how long. It could be centuries before we return to where we were 50 or so years ago. No, I’m not suggesting rose tinted specs looking backwards, just that then we seemed to struggle for freedom, now we just accept repression.

John – Lord H. lost in 1964 and so did Barry Goldwater.

It has been downhill ever since (indeed for long before).

The world of the 1950s was not perfect – it was wildly imperfect.

But it was (in the word of T. Parsons) “functional”.

We now live in a “dysfunctional” society – one that will soon collapse.

Sadly neither of us we live to see a functional society emerge again.
