Why do I wonder if this is true?

The insane thing is, this is just this side of believable. The best piss takes make you scratch your head:

Obama to Apologize for American "War Crimes" During WWII

In a move aimed at healing the rifts of American foreign policy decisions, President Obama will make a trip to Europe next month, including a trip to Dresden, Germany. The trip will consist of several stops and the President will meet with the President of France and the Chancellor of Germany. Also slated are several policy speeches.

Perhaps the most controversial is a planned speech in which President Obama will formally apologize for American ‘war crimes’ during the Second World War. This would be particularly comforting to Europeans, who have long condemned American foreign policy actions, especially regarding civilians.

This speech will also be welcome in Germany, who had over 12,000,000 of its citizens killed during the war. Mayor Johann Krupp of Augensburg in Saxony stated to DW that the speech will "help my great-uncle’s soul rest. He burned to death during the Dresden bombings."

Along with the Dresden fire-bombings, which German historians calculate killed 300,000 civilians, Obama will discuss other American actions. These include mistreatment of French civilians during the June 1944 invasion, including the killing of over 3,000Milice members. In February 1945, the bridge over the Rhine River was bombed by an American B-29, killing over 300 fleeing refugees.

What is not clear is broader American ‘war crimes’ will be spoken of. These include accusations of anti-German sentiment during the war and placing Japanese-Americans into ‘concentration camps’, in which UC Berkeley professor Harold Beffer, PhD, estimated that 30,000 died.

Obama’s speech will take place on June 6, the 65th anniversary of American, British, and Canadian landings in Normandy, France. He will speak briefly in Berlin before making his keynote address in Dresden.

Meanwhile, in the real world, Barry is again showing he is a man of the people:

The 65th Anniversary of D-Day is fast approaching.  Barack Obama will attend the events on June 6th as George Bush did in 2004 for the sixtieth memorial service.  Here is the rub, as of now Obama’s State Department has asked (read demanded) the French government not allow tour guide services to operate that day. It is a big day for Normandy tourism. Yet, the king will not allow those not connected with government to enjoy the day.  Obama is very important you know.  This is an unprecedented request.  I hope the French come to their senses and deny it.

Compare that with 2004.  Security was tight as President Bush and other world leaders were in attendance, but the event was still open to all.  A friend relayed the story of waiting in line to use a port-a-potty (a French port-a-potty no doubt, yuck, believe me.)  She looks to her left and who he is in the next line waiting patiently?  President Bush.  Sure he had Secret Service nearby, but he waited like everyone else.

Contrast that with Team Obama not even allowing regular people near Colleville-Sur-Mer that day.   A shame indeed.  Especially as the last of our WW II vets are expiring.

Their contempt for us is total.

I had to wiki it but it sounds like those guys were, you know, the enemy.

“These include accusations of anti-German sentiment during the war”

Oh teh noes, anything but sentiment!!!!

“and placing Japanese-Americans into ‘concentration camps’, in which UC Berkeley professor Harold Beffer, PhD, estimated that 30,000 died.”

IIRC the total number interned was about 110,000 if that 30,000 figure is true then that is truly outrageous.

However given that our pal Dr. Beffer doesn’t seem to exist before last thursday…

I have been to Augsburg. I stayed in a nice little hotel with B&W pictures behind the bar of chaps looking very proud in their uniforms. They were probs merely bus-conductors but ain’t that the truth.

I did though have to yank my brother off the balconey because he was doing straight-arm salutes and ranting to the traffic in a faux German accent like Basil Fawlty.
