Blessed be his name

First up, a couple of reports –

The first on global temperature changes from the superb, and thoroughly sane site Watts up with that –

Confirming what many of us have already noted from the anecdotal evidence coming in of a much cooler than normal May, such as late spring snows as far south as Arizona, extended skiing in Colorado, and delays in snow cover melting, (here and here), the University of Alabama, Huntsville (UAH) published their satellite derived Advanced Microwave Sounder Unit data set of the Lower Troposphere for May 2008.

It is significantly colder globally, colder even than the significant drop to -0.046°C seen in January 2008.

The global ∆T from April to May 2008 was -.195°C

UAH
2008 1 -0.046
2008 2 0.020
2008 3 0.094
2008 4 0.015
2008 5 -0.180

Compared to the May 2007 value of 0.199°C we find a 12 month ∆T is -.379°C.

But even more impressive is the change since the last big peak in global temperature in January 2007 at 0.594°C, giving a 16 month ∆T of -0.774°C which is equal in magnitude to the generally agreed upon “global warming signal” of the last 100 years.

You get that folks? A sixteen month delta temp of -0.774C? Wiping out all the warming that giant of 20thC physics, the (ex) junior Senator from Tennessee warned us about? Now, I know, and you know, that measurements over a time period this small are little more than noise, and, discounting the complete lack of warming since 2002, a long term cooling trend is not yet apparent. But, what the heck. If a single fairly normal class 4 hurricane, unfortunately hitting the coast at the site of an incompetently run city, can be down to both the personal responsibility of George Bush and be unquestionable evidence of runaway catastrophic Global Warming, all caused because I have the effrontery to wish to eat, travel to work and keep warm in the winter, then I can certainly ask – where do the models of the unquestionably settled science predict this?

I shall refrain from anything as inappropriately childish and premature as – yah yah yahyah yah.

Now, the other report, via the Trib -

Global pirate attack up.

Aaarrrgghh me hearties, the pirates do return.

Seafarers suffered 49 attacks between January and March around the world, up 20 percent from the 41 recorded in the same period last year, the International Maritime Bureau said in a report by its piracy reporting center in Malaysia.

<west country pirate accent> and here we do find a pirate map, or, at least, a map of pirates, in the spice islands today</west country pirate accent>.

So, why post these two issues together? In what way can they be linked, you ask. Well, that finally gets us on to the third point -

Hot damn boys and girls, there is unquestionably a correlation here. By the standards foisted upon us by The Salesman, his faked up propaganda fright flick, and his politicised sycophants at the UN, it all means that this is unquestionable. Come on, lets declare a consensus and threaten everyone who disagrees with us with trials, criminal sanctions and public humiliation.

Look at these, here we have both long term trend, and short -

How can you ever possibly doubt it? AGW is real – Apiratical Global Warming.

By grace of the FSM, lack of pirates causes global warming.

May he bless us with the touch of his noodley appendage.
