Greenbacks on the back of Green

The former senator from Tenessee and failed US Presidential Candidate, Al Gore, is apparently coining it in.

Last year Mr Gore’s venture capital firm loaned a small California firm $75m to develop energy-saving technology.

The company, Silver Spring Networks, produces hardware and software to make the electricity grid more efficient.

Sounds a good idea. I’m all for efficiency. But…

The deal appeared to pay off in a big way last week, when the Energy Department announced $3.4 billion in smart grid grants, the New York Times reports. Of the total, more than $560 million went to utilities with which Silver Spring has contracts.

Am I the only one to smell a big fat rat in a mansion in Music City, TN. Or is it maybe just that the sagacity of the Goreacle is unsurpassed? I mean he did invent the internet afterall.

Representative Marsha Blackburn, Republican of Tennessee, has claimed that Mr Gore stood to benefit personally from the energy and climate policies he was urging Congress to adopt.

Ya think Marsha! Surely not! He was he sent down from Nashville to save us all from avarice and gluttony! Unbeliever!!!

Mr Gore had said that he is simply putting his money where his mouth is.

If only it was me putting my size 10 where his mouth is - the unbearably smug bastard. And he is also fat. Although to be fair that is possibly one of his carbon-capture schemes.

“Do you think there is something wrong with being active in business in this country?” Mr. Gore said. “I am proud of it. I am proud of it.”

He said it twice so it must be true!. That’s not business. Business is about generating wealth and not poncing it from the taxpayer for something you have been lobbying for for years. Some people might think he also had the inside skinny on where the DoE were planning on spending a porkulus of $3.4 billion. Some people might think that but I couldn’t possibly comment. Some people might even think he’d pulled a few strings to get about on sixth of that porkulus sent his way but I absolutely really couldn’t comment on that.

That Al Gore, the Second Greatest Man of All Time (after Obama, obviously)*, is a venal and corrupt failed politician… That’s unthinkable!

To reprise what Cats always asks about Gore…

Is anyone sueing him yet?

*Well, debateable. They both have Nobels but Gore also has an Oscar for his glorified Powerpoint presentation riddled with factual errors and wild speculation.

To be governed is to be watched, inspected, spied upon, directed, law-driven, numbered, regulated, enrolled, indoctrinated, preached at, controlled, checked, estimated, valued, censured, commanded, by creatures who have neither the right nor the wisdom nor the virtue to do so.

To be governed is to be at every operation, at every transaction noted, registered, counted, taxed, stamped, measured, numbered, assessed, licensed, authorized, admonished, prevented, forbidden, reformed, corrected, punished.

It is, under pretext of public utility, and in the name of the general interest, to be placed under contribution, drilled, fleeced, exploited, monopolized, extorted from, squeezed, hoaxed, robbed; then, at the slightest resistance, the first word of complaint, to be repressed, fined, vilified, harassed, hunted down, abused, clubbed, disarmed, bound, choked, imprisoned, judged, condemned, shot, deported, sacrificed, sold, betrayed; and to crown all, mocked, ridiculed, derided, outraged, dishonoured.

That is government; that is it’s justice; that is its morality.

I like to imagine that most people are generally fairly decent and smart (or at least “common-sense-ical”). But when I think about how many of them have been taken in by this obvious charlatan’s blatant fraud, I begin to wonder. In a just world he’d have to go around with a bag over his head in case anyone recognised him.

Well, seeing as AGW is a cultic religion then it would be expected for Gore to fleece his devotees but no Gore has gone better than that. He’s doing everyone.
