   Six more years of “last chance to save the world/rainforest/polar bears/orang-utangs”? I don’t think I can stand it.
   Didn’t we have 96 months to save the planet? So it all has to be done in 24 months? Or has some of it gone by and it’s due to happen next year?
   in the last month I’ve gone from “How dare they deceive us like that”
   to a mild dose of feeling as if someone shot my fox.
   After ten years of following the scent - now it’s all out in the open.
   I felt like this when Gorbachev blew the Soviet Union open with glasnost. 25 years of being anti-communist - against the mood of my peers, of course - and suddenly vindicated. But not triumphant because too much damage had been done.
   There was the same attitude about then: “Socialism is being renewed, not undermined”.
   Well, ho ho.

   I reckon it’s six years so people have a chance to forget they ever said it.

   I think I said once before, that there would be no Grand Debunking, but that the media would simply and quietly stop mentioning it. Well, we did sort of have a little debunking (so I was wrong about that!), which the media have sort of sat on but not quite. But you can feel the mood has changed and I suspect that the first chance they get they’ll begin to Stop Mentioning It. It’s the way it usually goes, when we’ve had these scares before.

   And before you know it, global warming will join overpopulation, acid rain, the ozone hole, mercury in fish, artificial additives, artificial pesticides, radioactivity, power lines, British beef, genetically engineering, ‘grey-goo’ nanobots, megalomaniac artificial intelligences, nuclear war/nuclear winter, and all the other things that once signified our inevitable Doom according to the media but now are Not Mentioned. And nobody will remember it.

   Could it be that the developed/undeveloped worlds controversy is being allowed to bloom in order to cover up the serious factual inaccuracies that have been revealed?
   We know that this is and has been simply another vehicle for the real agenda and now that this one has hit some “leaves on the line” perhaps they are allowing the “leaves” to become something else rather than scientific facts, as indeed you are saying, Pa?
   But the agenda is there and rather than “it will be back” it will not even go away but just modify its story line and press on regardless?

   Good point, John. “It” won’t go away because “it” isn’t warble gloaming or overpopulation or the ozone hole or acid rain. “It” is the desire of transnationalist prodnoses and buttinskis to nick our stuff and run our lives. And that will always be with us.
