Wrong approach

International Draw Big Mo Day? Absolutely. Been there, done that.

International Deny Allah Day? Yep.

International Deride The Sunnah Day? Now that would be easy peasy and make me a very happy boy.

International Burn The Koran Day? Um, no. Nope. Wrong message, wrong message completely. Pissing on it maybe? Now that would be the right message, although possibly a little crudely expressed, but burning it? No.

Much as I would love to burn a Koran as a statement of derision, book burning has all the wrong connotations and on the surface stands for just about all I loath.

I won’t be joining in on this.

    Seconded.

It is the Islamists who want to burn books. If we stoop to their level then what the hell are we trying to defend?

I’m not getting into a pissing contest to see who can be the most intolerant.

Indeed I suggest “International Buy the Qu’ran Day”. Read it – I have – and make your own mind up. I wish that “comedic” duo Bush and Blair had.

    Thirded.

I wish someone would print the Koran on some nice, soft tissue paper, though.

I have a very attractive copy, bound in pigskin and embossed with cockle shells that I keep in pride of place next to the bog roll in my loo, for a little light reading in case I am having trouble shitting myself of a morning.

  4. JuliaM says:

    Yes, burning is definitely out.

How about an International Underline Suspect Passages, Point and Giggle Uncontrollably Day?

I think they should tart it up a bit. They like thrusting diversity down our throats so I figure they should print a pink edition with little rainbows all over it…
