From here.
We are not heading towards a totalitarian police state - we’re there already and just hiding it under the myth of “democracy”. I think Friedrich Nietzsche had something to say about that. I forget the exact quote but basically it went along the lines of democracy being the illusion of freedom created when you have the choice as to precisely which one of them buggers you.

Indeed.
Oh man, a new secure-beneath-the-watchful-eyes.jpg
Figures obtained under FOI reveal that South Yorkshire has the highest number of CCTV and ANPR cameras per head of population, and Norfolk the lowest.
Anything to do with the likely incidence of Islamic terrorism inclined persons in the respective local populations? No, thought not. (Nothing to see here, please move on…)
Actually, I find this one less sinister than those ‘See something suspicious about your neighbour? Well, tell the state!’ ones.
After all, how many times have I read ‘The CCTV wasn’t working/was pointing the other way/wasn’t good enough quality’ in the excuses given for why there’s no description of a criminal..?
I notice that the slogan hasn’t been translated into a non-English language, for the benefit of all those people who are coming here to ‘enrich’ our culture and make it more ‘diverse’ and ‘vibrant’
I wonder why that is ?
These cameras are for people’s safety and security? Only if you can use them as a defensive blunt instrument. What fucking use are they stuck up a pole?
Well quite Julia. We only have to look at the Jo Yeates murder here in Bristol over xmas, don’t we?
The only clear footage of her came from CCTV’s in shops, and despite Bristol being littered with the damn things, the street CCTV was worse than useless.
They are only retrospective tools at best anyway, they may add to the evidence against a criminal after you’ve caught them, but they very rarely aid catching them in the first place, and they never stop anyone doing anything criminal either. Criminals just do their thing out of camera shot.
