Quick! Behind the sofa! Pretend we’re out!

Barack Obama locked out of the White House:

President Barack Obama was filmed being confronted by a locked door when he tried to enter the Oval Office from a terrace at the White House as he returned early from a trip to Latin America.

With a nonchalant stroll and a whistle, the US president walked past another set of locked French doors before he was finally able to gain access to his seat of power.

If that had been the previous Prez, the BBC would probably have set up a new channel to show it on constant rotation.

    That’s priceless! :D

Oddly this reminds me of this…

“They asked me to go in front of the Reagans. I’m not used to going in front of President Reagan, so we went out behind the Bushes.”

    - J Danforth Quayle.

Interestingly a lot of Quaylisms (and he really was a complete moron) got re-cycled for Dubya who isn’t a moron. I actually rather like some of his -isms. Such as his infamous, “They misunderestimated me”.

But still, another Quaylism – my fave…

“The other day [the President] said, I know you’ve had some rough times, and I want to do something that will show the nation what faith that I have in you, in your maturity and sense of responsibility. (He paused, then said) Would you like a puppy?”

    Or the almost Rumsfeldian…

“We’re all capable of mistakes, but I do not care to enlighten you on the mistakes we may or may not have made.”

Quayle wasn’t “a complete moron”, although he certainly got that reputation because of his remarkable ability to mangle the English language*. Everyone forgets, but he was selected as the VP candidate because of his (deserved) reputation in the Senate as an expert on defense matters.

    * Sort of like Joe Biden. So why doesn’t he also have a reputation as a “moron”? Oh, that’s right: because he’s a liberal, and anyone who spouts liberal platitudes is ipso facto a deep thinker.

I seem to remember seeing some film of Gurnin Gordon bustling down a corridor somewhere, with his entourage trotting along by his side, when he turned sharp left through a doorway (presumably to avoid the reporter with the cameraman).

You can see the entourage all looking back and forth to each other, as if to say “Where the fuck did he go?”

A couple of seconds later, Sunny Boy Brown re-appears with the famous scowl on his face. He had just walked into the Men’s room by mistake.

Joe Biden is truly neutron star dense.

    No argument from me.
