Earth Day

How goes the war when even the Church is going pagan?

On Good Friday, the day we mark the crucifixion of Christ, God in the flesh, might we suggest that when Earth is degraded, when species go extinct, that another part of God’s body experiences yet another sort of crucifixion

  1. John says:

Leading the sheep astray, apostasy and the great deception, could end times ever be any nearer.

Maybe they should comment on the countless species that became extinct hundreds of millions of years before man ever dropped out of the trees? And maybe they should mention that atmospheric CO2 was much higher than today too. Those dinos and their damned 4x4s, eh?

    Cretins.

Not the species going extinct bit, not happy about that, and never have been, from even before greenery became an issue, let alone a religion.

The point is the conflation of the Earth to God and the comparison of the ravaging of Gaia to the crucifixion. That has to be blasphemy, or do Anglicans really and truly not care anymore?

  4. Chris says:

It’s just the Church taking on the trappings and shibboleths of the dominant local cult. Same as it ever was…

Given that Woolly Beardie is the ABC, it doesn’t surprise me in the least. But then, comparing sky pixies to earth pixies is a redundant argument as far as I’m concerned. You see, I don’t believe in fairies.

“do Anglicans really and truly not care anymore?”

Well yes they do care. Just not about God. I think of Anglicanism (at least in UK/USA/Oz etc) as being like owning a Mac. It’s a sort of religion for people who aren’t interested in religion.

Ironically there’s missionaries from Africa coming to tend the flocks if said flocks aren’t pro-homosexuality. It’s creating a nice little split in the Anglican and Lutheran churches from what I hear.

Anglicans – making Catholics feel better since 1534.

  9. Paul Marks says:

Even leaving aside homosexual acts – the American Episcopalian “Church” is really nothing to do with Christianity, and its membership has been in free fall for years (as more and more people work out that it has been taken over by a mixture of New Age pagans and secular leftists).

I am reminded of Rowen Williams – only the American Episcopalians may him look like a hard core Christian by comparison.
